UDAs that override site variables
If you define a UDA to have the same name as a site variable, its value will override the site variable. This allows you to change site variable settings on a per-part basis. (The UDA does not change the site variable setting; it overrides it for this part.)
If you have a separate aPriori System Administration and Digital Factory Administration roles, you will typically collaborate with a Digital Factory Administrator for this process:
-
Determine which site variable should provide override capabilities. To view site variables, click Tools > Digital Factory Toolset >Process Group Site Variables and then select a Process Group from the left pane.
-
Ensure that you and the Digital Factory Administrator understand exactly which Process Group(s) this override should be used for.
-
Using the procedure described in Managing user defined attributes, create a new UDA with exactly the same name as the site variable. In the Display Name field, ensure that the label includes the name of the Process Group(s) that this override applies to.
-
Use Dialog Views to ensure that the new UDA is visible on the Cost Guide.
